HIndi Nahi maalum :( :( [Life at PUNE]

Before 4 months me and my Cognizant batch mates Anand and Harish gone to Pune for a project. At first we were very excited to see a new place. After days going we struggled a lot, because of food and language. We managed food somehow, but not the language. Anyway we got nice people there. Even though we got good friends, but we got struck alone in some places.

Scene 1

Usually cab comes to pickup us to office. We have no problem to go in cab, because always our Hindi guru Harish will be there with us. So that he will talk in Hindi with the driver. None of the driver knows English. After project started we have to go in shifts. So Timings got changed for us. So I asked Harish, to teach me some words in Hindi. Usually driver will call us before he comes. So that we can get ready and come outside. If he is coming late means, we have to call him. So Harish told me to ask him "aap kahe hey". That means "where are you?”. So that he will say some road name. That day for me alone afternoon shift:( . After I got ready, I called the driver by standing in the road.

ME: Hello baiyaa!! Aap kaha hey??

Driver: *%&&* %#&& ##%&&% !!

ME: (I was thinking, why this idiot not telling the road name..Ok we will keep on repeating) Aap kaha hey?? Aap kaha hey??

Driver : *%&&* %#&& ##%&&% *%&&* %#&& ##%&&%

Me: kaha hey baiya kaha hey??

Driver :*%&&* %#&& ##%&&% *%&&* %#&& ##%&&% *%&&* %#&& ##%&&% *%&&* %#&& ##%&&% *%&&* %#&& ##%&&%

Me: ?????????????????????????????????????????? (I got irritated :( Hindi kathukama poitomae :'( :'( Then I am going to cut the call; I was seeing one guy shaking his hand from opposite!! Then only I found out that was him only)

[So he was telling these many times I am standing opposite only, but i can’t understand :( ]

Scene 2

One day, I was so hungry, but both of them told they are going to veg hotel. So me alone had gone to non veg hotel. Then I ordered fried rice and eating happily :) :)

Me : Baiyaa lemon??

Server : !!!!! (Blinking)

Me : (Then I acted like squeezing a lemon on fried rice) [anyway dumb c helped!!]

Server : oh nimbu!! ok ok

Me : baiya!! Slice??

Server : (going fast near the fridge. Then he is taking slice)

Me : baiya cooling hey?

Server : (Keeps the bottle inside and starring at the fridge for some time)

Me : ?? (I was confused)

Server : Pepsi, coke, thumps up hey cooling nahi hey

Me : !!!!!! (Oh god!! he thought cooling means a cool drinks name) hey!!! Slice ok

Server : ok

Me : It was cold only (Pesama kekamalae irunthirukalaam[For eng readers: Better I shouldn’t ask him]

So Friends if we get a chance to learn a language, we should have an interest to learn it. At least a basic if we learnt means, we can avoid such situations in your life. Enjoy the way how life comes to us. See you in next post.

An Unforgettable Hostel Day :) :)

Hi friends, after getting a kind of good response for my previous post, Iam writing this. Thanks for all your valuable comments to my previous post and your constant encouragement only makes me to write more. So please go through the post and give your comments.

I was doing my first year of engineering. It was almost about to complete. That was the time “hostel day” celebrations began. I was really interested in all sporting events. I love sports more than studies. But I never got a chance to play right from my school days, since my school had no ground at all. I usually love to play cricket, football and shuttle. Since there was no cricket and football, I thought of participating in shuttle during the “Hostel day” celebrations.

In the very first game itself I had a match with my roommate Rajesh Vitta. He is one of the best players in badminton. On the first match itself I lost to him. I got “1 point” but he got “15 points” and he won(that 1 point also he simply left it for me as I was his roommate)

I was totally upset on that day. Then I sat on one corner and watched all the matches. That was the first time for me to play shuttle in indoor auditorium. I enjoyed  watching other players. Atlast my room mate got 3 rd place only. One guy called s.j from cse dept, got 1st prize. Actually he is a state level player. He had the ability to smash in reverse also. Really he is a great player. That day I decided that we have to play atleast once with this guy and have to get atleast 1 point.

Then  days went on, I was in my second year. That time we got room in hostel, which was very nearer to shuttle court. Here I had a friend  called “Belbin”(My shuttle guru).I know this guy from my 1^st yr itself. But I never knew that he was a good shuttle player till that time. Then one day I got an opportunity to play shuttle with him. Then only I came to know that he is a nice player. From then on, he became a kind of coach to me. Usually  Belbin(mokkai mani), Balaji(muttai baraji) , Glady(quarter mama) and myself will go and play from 3 30 to 6. After getting coached by Belbin, I started smashing easily. Then  2 or 3 times I defeated Belbin itself. After, almost a year of coaching, again the hostel day came. We participated this time too. In singles event, I went upto quarter finals this time. But lost to a guy called Abhishek  from ece dept. On that game I got so many serves but I wasted almost every serve. Each and every time I served, it went out.  I practiced using plastic cock but in the match they gave me feather cock. L L

Then in doubles event, Belbin  was my partner.We easily won all the matches and we reached finals. Here in finals, we faced sj(state player) and  shakthi(district) duo. They never faced a defeat in this past 2 years. So my classmates were telling us ”machi epudiyum thothiduvinga asingama thokathinga da”(means u will surely lose but at least give a decent fight da). Our match with them was scheduled at 9 PM. We were really eager to play with them.

Match started, only my friend Balaji was there to encourage us. Match was going on with full excitement. Match was equally poised till 8 and we both had equal points. We got tired. Neither of us could get a point for quite some time. Then they started getting more points. Whenever we made a smash, sj easily took it. Then the score became 14-9. We had only 9 points.

They had only one serve left for them and they needed just one point to win the game.  Then when he was about to serve, we smiled and he too smiled. Everyone thought we were going to lose(including us).  But he smiled and casually served. He smashed it into the net. Then we got 2 fresh serves. But we could make the points from 9 to just 10. Then it was service cut for us. But this time in the 2 serves they couldn’t get a point. We again got a chance to serve, this time we targeted Sakthi and it worked for us too. Belbin started serving and started getting more points. It was deuce (14-14) then. But we didn’t get satisfied with it and made some excellent deliveries and smashes and the scores became 16- 14. We won the match. The match went for some 45 minutes. We were flying and shouting inside the auditorium. We were really excited and couldn’t believe that we won. That was an awesome moment in my life. All the credits go to Belbin only and I dedicate this post to my “Shuttle Guru” Belbin. J J

Dream Company!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi friends, this is my first blog. I have an idea write blogs for many days. After I got some inspiration from my batch mates in Cts. I am writing this. Thanks for all my friends.
Now I am going to write about how my dream comes true in my life. Actually when I was doing my final year, as usual like every college there was a placement fever in my college too. Many of them have some dream companies in their mind. I don’t have such thoughts. Everyone had advised me to think one company as your Dream Company. I just simply told them what ever company going to conduct interview for me, I will take that company as my dream company.
Then At least now I have to say about my college. I have finished my engineering B.E EEE in S.j.c.e(sentral jail college of engineering) ha ha... no no it was St.Joseph’s college of engg. I believe many of u know about my college. Its really like a jail, if u were in hostel u will surely know about that. Even though it was like that, we really enjoyed by cutting classes and going out without the knowledge of my hostel warden!!!
Here placement is very good. Usually 75 to 80 percent of students will get placed. But this time only 55 to 60 percent. Because of recession. At first tcs came, I had full confidence to get through the interview and get placed. But my bad luck, continuously 5 companies (tcs,wipro,hcl,virtusa and Syntel) I cant able to clear aptitude itself. So I was totally got absurd. Then one fine day I was sleeping in my bus and going to my home with full hesitation. Suddenly bus turns, my sleep got spoiled. When I am opening my eye I am seeing the big name “cognizant” on the cognizant office at pallikaranai. Then I thought surely cognizant only I am going to get placed. But in my college there was a problem with cts. Since that time they called tcs as the first company. But tcs recruited only 100. So my college got irritated and convincing cts. Then on one day my director is announcing one surprise company is going to come. Finally cts came to our college.
Then I cleared the aptitude test for the first time. So my confidence level got increased. I thought i will surely get placed. But in interview I answered all questions whatever they asked but, I didn’t explain it briefly. I answered everything in a short. Because of that I didn’t get placed.
Then there was big ? in my mind. Then I thought of doing m.s. So I started studying gre and toefl. Here also i cleared gre but not able to clear toefl. But i didn’t give up my hope, I tried to write ielts. But at last my parents told me not to go outside India. Then at that situation i dont wanna to study more. So i left that. Then nearly 4 months I tried for my job. Nearly 50 interviews I attended. Many times company was not worth, or it will be a consultancy. Then sometimes good companies will come, but I can’t able to clear it. Seriously speaking I don’t know exactly, on one day I went nearly 4 interviews. Then at last, I got a job in a marketing company. My parents told for continuing my father’s business it will be good. So only i joined. But at the very first day itself I escaped in the lunch from that company.
Then after that I got a job in a company named EDSERV. At first they told some small work there. The salary is 3500 per month. But after going only I know that company was fully based on preparing question and answers for engineering students. Then I got irritated. For the full day I was just doing copy and paste from Wikipedia. No breaks, only lunch break. Only one day I went for that company.
After that I got recruited in VALIANT TECHNOLOGIES PVT.LTD. Actually that was my cousin’s friend company. This was a very good company. But only 5 members working there including me. It was a networking company. I don’t know anything about computers at that time. After joining that company only I learned about basic things in networking. Then days moving, I don’t have any interest to go for any interviews again. Suddenly one fine day I heard that cts, hcl and tcs are going to recruit 2009 passed out’s. Then I simply applied for those companies through internet. In Hcl, very first round aptitude itself not able to clear. I didn’t felt for that like before in college days. Then I got hall ticket for cts aptitude test in M.G.R Janaki college on 20th march. Before writing suddenly my manager in my last company suddenly called me and told that I am going out for the first project with my colleague Mr.X to tidel park on 20th and 21st of march. Then he asked us any problem. We also told that there is no problem. Then I thought of leaving the aptitude test. But at last my friend X told me to don’t miss that opportunity. So I told my manager that I am going for hospital on Saturday afternoon and I got 1 hour of permission. Because of him, I am able to write the test. Really i have to thank him. Then I didn’t expect that I will clear the aptitude. But I got cleared. I had seen the mail on the same day I wrote the test. Then next day I am having an interview. But, I have to go for night shift. I was thinking “what to do”. But I gone for the work and worked till 2’o clock. Then my friend felt that I am not interested to work. So he told me stop working. Then after that I came to my home at 3’o clock.
After that I was so late for the interview at the morning, suddenly something strikes in mind. I missed my mail printout which came last night that I cleared aptitude. Then I was calling my area juniors (college) and at last one guy helped me to take print out from his neighbour. Then I reached Mepz at 8:10 only. Actually 8’o clock was the interview time. But anyway nothing gets started.
I didn’t prepare anything. But i thought that I definitely not going to clear the interview. I just smiled and relaxed myself. Then I answered somewhat well in interview, if don’t know the answers means I boldly told them. Then at last I finished my 2 rounds of interview. Then the next day itself I got a mail from cts that I have cleared and got appointed. I cried little bit. I can’t forget those wonderful moments in my life time. Suddenly my mind makes me to think that long back I told this was my dream company. Our mind has some power which will surely makes it true one day. So keep loving anything in life. There is no limits in that.
